3D Tournament in "Vistula Archery Route", Warsaw -Poland , June 22 2016

Members of our archery team had the exceptional honor to participate in the weekly mini 3D tournament in the "Vistula Archery Route" (Wiślana Ścieżka Łucznicza) which is placed in the coastal forest of the east shore of Vistula river in the area of Goclaw. Shooting in 28 3D animal-figured targets through a beautifull landscape , our archers had the opportunity to have a technically great archery experience. We would like to thank the host of the event Mr Marcin Eckert for the warm welcome and the great event.

Traditional Archery Training in Warsaw / Poland , May 1st 2016

On Sunday, May 1st, 2016, the member of our Association Spyros Bakas held a Traditional Archery training session in the open training grounds in Siekierki park - Warsaw/Poland, along with distinguished Polish archers as Mr Adam Radziun and arrow expert Mr Piotr Kosiorek.

Participation in the International "THUMB ARCHERY" Meeting, Sunna / Germany, May 26-29 2016

Following the kind invitation of the German Thumbring Traditional Archery Community , the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES will participate in the 9th International Thumbring Competition which will be held between May 26-29 2016 in the Sunna city (Keltendorf) in central Germany. The four-day event of the meeting will take place in the beautifull landscapes of the territory, on physical routes organised specifically for the competition, hosting the leading clubs from Poland, Turkey and Greece as well as the prime German archers and teams.

Seminar "Byzantine Hoplomachia of the Early Period", Athens, April 3 2016

On Sunday, April 3, 2016 was held for the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES the seminar entitled "Byzantine Hoplomachia of the early period" by the trainer of Classical & Historical Fencing and trainer of the Association Mr. George Georgas. Our members were trained in close combat techniques of the straight and lancet type of "paramirion" sword, combat engage against more than 3 opponents, "paramirion" sword techniques (lancet/straight) and "cheiroskoutarion" shield (buckler shield) against spears. The trainees had the chance to observe the differences with the "paramirion" sword of the late Byzantine period where the weapon had been replaced by the Byzantine saber sword , while also been trained on the latest. The session ended with a duel with these weapons between Mr George Georgas and his student Mr Ioannis Tzamalis. After the seminar, our members continued their training following a session in traditional archery.

Participation in the Hungarian National Traditional Archery competition "MHIT 2016", March 19 2016,Törökbálint / Budapest

The Traditional Archery team of the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES accepting to honourable invitation of the World Traditional Archery Federation's (WTAF) vice president Mr. Posta Pal and the Hungarian Federation of Traditional Archery participated in the Indoor traditional archery competition "M.I.I.T. 2016" which took place on Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Törökbálint / Budapest.

The four archers of our mission-team represented the Greek Traditional Archery in the European Traditional Archery capital shooting together with famous world champions and renowned teams. The competition was held in the region of "Anna Caves" in an area of actual historical artificial caves and included targets up to 30 meters and on target-faces defined by the Hungarian federation. The organizing committee of MHIT for this year honored the Polish Traditional archery and its great contribution to the World Heritage of World Archery. The commitee invited groups of four archers from the leading associations of Greece, Turkey, Germany and Romania as a symbol of cooperation, fraternity and recognition of their development at national level.

Participation in the 7th Total Field Game (T.F.G.), Agios Ioannis / Pelion Mountain, March 13 2016

The Traditional Archery team of the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES participated with great success in the 7th traditional archery open field game "Total Field Game 2016", which took place on Sunday, March 13th 2016 in the village of Agios Ioannis of Pelion mountain. The competition was organized by the Olympic Archery Academy of "Pelopos" Patras city, with the support of the Greek Olympic Archery Federation "E.O.T." and the participation of 60 athletes from Greece, Germany, Turkey, England and Cyprus.

The competition included 13 targets in physical terain of three kilometers on the slopes of Pelion mountain. The targets were located in the uphill and downward slope, and with natural obstacles. The athletes were participating in mixed groups of 4 , from the categories of Recurve, Compound, Barebow, Longbow, Traditional. The beginning and the end of the route took place in Hotel Anesis village of Agios Ioannis village, Our Association was pleased to see the athletes Elena Antoniadou, Erasmia Smyroglou and Skourti Sofia to win the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.

KORYVANTES in the 3rd International Flying Shooting Competition in Leczyca Castle /Poland, April 22-24 2016

Following the kind invitation of the Polish Community of Traditional Archery and the distinguished bow-master and host of the event, Mr.Lukasz Nawalny,  the Association of  Historical Studies KORYVANTES will participate in the 3rd Polish Flying Shooting Competition which will be held between April 22-24, 2016 in Leczyca Castle / Poland.

The "III Ogolnopolski Turniej Strzelania na Odległość Flight" tournament brings the attention of the best Polish, French, Turkish, Italian, British, Slovakian, Greek and Hungarian flight archers. 

The event will also host interesting workshops including thumb ring technique with the famous master Adam Swoboda, arrow-making workshops with expert Piotr Kosiorek and thumb ring practices with Adam Rdziun.

Participation in the Polish Traditional Archery "XVII International Correspondence Tournament", December 6 2015

The Traditional Archery team of the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES had the great honor to participate in the Polish "XVII International Correspondence Tournament" (correspondence tournament), which took place on Sunday,December 6 2015, on our training fields in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Our Association participated in this great event of the global family of Traditional Archery with 18 archers.The "XV International Correspondence Tournament" is a prestigious international Traditional Archery event which is organized by the Polish Federation of Traditional Archery. It was held on the same day and time in many European countries with the participation of hundrends of athletes of all ages, and the relevant top traditional archery teams.Our Association has participated in the relevant event of the year 2014

The Traditional Archery team of the Association of  Historical Studies KORYVANTES, is extremelly honoured to announce it's association with the renown and Prime British Institution " Society for the Promotion of the Traditional Archery".

S.P.T.A. was founded in 1993 to promote interest in the technology, history, crafts and shooting skills of worldwide traditional archery. SPTA's aims to share knowledge of this limitless subject, from the Avar bow to the 'Zhu' of the Bhutanese. Dozens of craftspeople, scholars and historians are among Society's members included the honorary president of the SPTA, Mr. Hector Cole, who has been awarded for his work as an arrowsmith under the British Empire Medal (BEM) and prime British champions in longbow category such as Carrol Edwards , Mick Pearce and Richard Hornsby.

KORYVANTES in the "5th Total Field Game 2015", Dafnoula - Ioannina / Greece, August 1st 2015

The traditional Archery team of the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES, following the kind invitation of the Academy of Olympic Archery "Pelopos" Patras, participated in the"5th Total Field Game 2015", which took place on Saturday, August 1, 2015, in the village of Dafnoula in Ioannina / Greece .

The event was held under the auspices of the Greek Olympic Archery Federation (EOT), the Academy of Olympic Archery "Pelopos" Patras ,the Sports Club "Protoporos" from Ioannina and the Community of the Dafnoula village, with the participation of a total of 32 Olympic and Traditional Archery athletes.

The competition included 10 targets in a maximum distance of 50m in physical route of 2 km. The targets were placed in the uphill and downward slope and in many cases in conjunction with physical obstacles. The athletes participated in mixed groups of 4 athletes from the following categories : Recurve, Compound, Barebow, Longbow, Traditional. Our athletes won the first and second place in the category "Traditional Bow" women , under Elena Antoniadou and Erasmia Smyroglou (no contest), and the first place in the category "Traditional Bow" men under Chassalevris Taxiarchis (no contest).

Participation in the "TOTAL FIELD GAME 2015" , Kissos / Greece , May 2 2015

The Traditional Archery team of the Association Historical Studies KORYVANTES, has the exceptional honour to anounce it's succesfull participation in the 4th Open field Tournament "Total Field Game 2015", which was held on Saturday May 2, 2015 in the village of Kissos of Pelion Mountain / Greece. It was organized by the Academy of Olympic Archery "Pelopos" Patras, with the support of the Greek Olympic Archery Federation and the participation of 60 athletes from Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

The competition included 12 targets in a three-and-a-half kilometers path through the verdant forests of Pelion Mountain. The targets were placed in the uphill /downhill slope and in many cases in conjunction with physical obstacles. Athletes participated in mixed groups of 4 athletes from various categories: Recurve, Compound, Barebow, Longbow, Traditional. The beginning and the end of the tournament was held in hospitable square of the village Kissos.

The simultaneous presence of all categories of archery in the same target, is an innovative idea of Mr Paul Koulis. The "Total Field Game" project has received warm and inspiring acceptance from archers from all over Greece with strong perspectives of extension of the idea into other countries as well.
