Participation in the 7th Total Field Game (T.F.G.), Agios Ioannis / Pelion Mountain, March 13 2016

The Traditional Archery team of the Association of Historical Studies KORYVANTES participated with great success in the 7th traditional archery open field game "Total Field Game 2016", which took place on Sunday, March 13th 2016 in the village of Agios Ioannis of Pelion mountain. The competition was organized by the Olympic Archery Academy of "Pelopos" Patras city, with the support of the Greek Olympic Archery Federation "E.O.T." and the participation of 60 athletes from Greece, Germany, Turkey, England and Cyprus.

The competition included 13 targets in physical terain of three kilometers on the slopes of Pelion mountain. The targets were located in the uphill and downward slope, and with natural obstacles. The athletes were participating in mixed groups of 4 , from the categories of Recurve, Compound, Barebow, Longbow, Traditional. The beginning and the end of the route took place in Hotel Anesis village of Agios Ioannis village, Our Association was pleased to see the athletes Elena Antoniadou, Erasmia Smyroglou and Skourti Sofia to win the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.



For KORYVANTES Association the participation of our 16 archers (enrolled in Olympic archery associations around Greece) and the participation of a total of 31 Traditional archers in this great fest  of Archery and of Civilizations under the auspices of the Greek Olympic Archery Fedration (EOT) was another crowning on the long effort to promote the Traditional Archery in Greece & Cyprus. The Association Korybantes Historical Studies as the institutional representative and historical research of the Greek Traditional Archery will continue to work cooperatively and responsibly for the greater spread of Greek archery in every corner of the country.

Our association would like to thank:

• The director of Olympic Archery Academy of "Pelopos" Patras, mr Koulis Paul for the excellent organization of the competition
• The host mr Miltos Rigopoulos for the excellent management and the hosting of the mission teams.
• The brother organisations of Talimhane from Turkey, SPTA from England, and the group "Traditional Archery Team - Germany", for the excellent cooperation
• The administrative member of the Greek Olympic Archery Federation EOT Mr. Nikos Raptis and friends-archers from all over Greece for their strong support on our work in the representation of Greek Traditional Archery.
• The members of our Association who worked methodically all the previous months for the success of the representation of the Association.

Our Association representing the Greek Traditional Archery participated with great success in the relevant events of the past:  in October 2015 in Platanovrissi village/Patras city (6 TFG), in August 2015 in Dafnoula village /Ioannina city (5th TFG), in May 2015 in Kissos village/ Pelion mountain (4th TFG ) and Metzena village / Patras city in October 2014 (3rd T.FG).
