Participation in the 2nd International Conference on Aegean Archaeology of the University of Warsaw / Poland , April 25 2014








Dear Friends
The 2nd International Conference on Aegean Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw ("2nd International Conference in Aegean Archaeology"), which is aimed at PhD candidates, postgraduate students, Researchers and Graduate students of Aegean Archaeology, will take place on Friday 25 April 2014, at the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw in Poland.
The Historical Studies Association “KORYVANTES” has the honour to be represented through the lectures of two of its distinguished members:
-Mr. Spyros Bakas, with his lecture "The Evidence of the use of Composite Bows in the Mycenaean World," will develop the indications for the existence and usage of Composite Bows in the Mycenaean World, presenting a series of archaeological finds, which reinforce this view
-Mr. Stefanos Skarmintzos with his lecture entitled "Ancient Warrior Reenactment in the Context of Experimental Archaeology, testing theories and attempting to provide answers on the mysteries of Ancient Warfare while popularizing Archeological Science and History", will approach the application of Experimental Archaeology in decoding methods of warfare in the ancient world through a series of experiments which our Association has made in previous years.
At the same time Mr. Stefanos Skarmintzos at the invitation of the Institute will offer lecture on Thursday April 24 in the official University Archeology course talking to students about "Fighting" in the Aegean World from the Mycenaean until the Classical periods, highlighting the usefulness of Experimental Archaeology and "Living History" for the correct interpretation of archaeological and literary data on the topic of Ancient Warfare.
